Peridot is the August birthstone. It's also the gemstone associated with prosperity and healing powers. Peridot comes in two varieties: one is a pale green color that looks like jade, and the other is more yellow-green and heavily included with dark inclusions. The darker peridots are more popular, but both kinds are beautiful.
